Project Outcome
This residence was designed as a sensory landscape that blends practicality with beauty. The garden combines three main features: a custom-built Chengal timber chicken coop, a flowing water stream, and a herb garden.
The coop is built to be durable and functional while also serving as an attractive feature on the lawn. Along the side, a sequence of ponds forms a calm water stream that brings sound, movement, and life to the space. At the rear, raised planters hold fresh herbs, making them easy to harvest for everyday cooking. Each element is designed to be both useful and visually engaging, creating a garden that enhances daily living.
Design Philosophy
The idea behind this project was simple: utility, beauty, and nature should flow together. Every part of the garden, right from the coop to the stream to the herbs, was planned not just to serve a purpose, but to enrich the senses and fit seamlessly with the home.
Key Design Elements
- Timber Chicken Coop: A custom-built Chengal wood coop that is both functional and visually striking.
- Water Stream: A series of connected ponds with gentle cascades that create a relaxing sound and attract wildlife.
- Aquatic Planting: Plants along the water’s edge soften hard lines and add to the tropical atmosphere.
- Herbs Garden: Raised planters filled with edible herbs like mint, basil, and rosemary for everyday use.
- Sensory Flow: The layout guides movement from the front coop, along the water, and into the herb garden.
- Architectural Connection: Materials and forms match the home, ensuring the garden feels like part of the overall design.
